Joe Burrow makes bold statement that will annoy rival fans

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow made a bold statement on Wednesday that while true will almost certainly get under the skin of rival fan bases.

Burrow was asked by a reporter after Cincinnati’s first training camp practice if he has any personal goals that he’s set for himself entering the new season. He answered by noting that he’s one of the “best in the world”.

“Where my mindset is these days is just improving every day,” said Burrow. “The point I’m at now, I’m one of the best in the world. And if I just continue to improve every day, I’m gonna help myself a lot more than if I set these goals for myself that are tangible.

So I’m just focused on getting better every single day. I know it’s cliche, but I think it’s the best way to go about it.” Some fans might not like the “one of the best in the world” comment from Burrow, but he’s not wrong.

Burrow doesn’t have a championship under his belt just yet, but what he’s done in just three years in Cincinnati is almost more impressive than winning a Super Bowl.

Burrow has turned a franchise that hadn’t won a playoff game since 1990 into one of the premier teams in the NFL. After wandering in the wilderness for the last 30 years, the Bengals have gone to two straight AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.

That’s incredibly impressive considering the Bengals were nowhere close to being a contender before Burrow was selected with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

So when Burrow says he’s one of the best in the world, he can absolutely back it up. By the way, that wasn’t Burrow’s only “confident” moment on Wednesday.

When Burrow was asked how the first day of practice went, the superstar said it went “pretty damn good”. “I feel like I put all the balls where I wanted to, made all the reads, made all the checks — it was a good first day,” said Burrow. Burrow exudes confidence on and off the field which is a big reason why he’s one of the best quarterbacks on the planet.
