Packers immediately replace key asset in latest mock draft

The Green Bay Packers have had a quiet offseason aside from the Aaron Rodgers trade rumblings.

Without having completed much roster construction, the team’s next chance to significantly improve its roster comes with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There are a handful of different directions Green Bay could go with the pick. In Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft the Packers select elite tight end prospect Dalton Kincaid.

TE Dalton Kincaid – Utah

From PFN: The top athlete on the board at the tight end position, Dalton Kincaid is essentially a wide receiver trapped in a tight end’s body. Recently cleared of an injury sustained at Utah, Kincaid makes highlight-reel catches on a regular basis and immediately improves Green Bay’s pass-catching group.

Kincaid is exactly what Jordan Love needs in his first full season as a starter. The Packers lost Robert Tonyan to the Chicago Bears in free agency, but Kincaid’s abilities could make fans forget all about him.

As a fifth-year senior in 2022 Kincaid played in 12 games and compiled 70 catches for 890 yards for an average of 12.7 yards per catch and eight TDs. As a pass blocker, he gave up no pressures and surrendered no sacks.

The Packers have drafted nine defensive players with their last 10 first-round picks with Jordan Love as the outlier. If GM Brian Gutekunst can find a weapon like Kincaid it should make the team’s transition into life after Rodgers much more smooth.
