Patrick Mahomes' comments about his offseason should get fans fired up

The Kansas City Chiefs just proved once again that they were the best team in the league. For most of the year, it was the Eagles that everyone thought would win the whole thing.

But, as they trailed in the Super Bowl, mainly because they didn’t have the ball long enough at all, they still came back and won, and did it in dramatic fashion.

I think most would agree that was the best Super Bowl we have seen in a while. The Chiefs did that off of a new squad on offense, for the most part. That was the second year with the revamped offensive line, and the receiver room only had one guy for the year before in Mecole Hardman, and he didn’t play in the postseason.

I’m saying all that to say Patrick Mahomes really showed out. That is why he won the MVP, and that is why he won the Super Bowl MVP. He had an incredible season. But now it’s time to get back at the grind, and he knows that too.

On Monday during phase one of the OTA offseason workouts program, he let everyone know what was different about this offseason.

“The one thing about winning the Super Bowl is your offseason gets a lot shorter,” Mahomes said. “So, I turned forward pretty quickly. I would say it was probably after I went to Vegas with Travis. After that, I was ready to get back to the next season.

So, we celebrated it for about a week or two and, you go on little trips here and there and it’s sort of relaxing but, I try to get it in like two or three days workouts and with Bobby and, and try to build up.

So that now I’m kind of back in that OTA mode and ready to go.” Winning a Super Bowl is hard to do, and the Chiefs have done it twice in the last four years and has been to the Super Bowl three times in that same time span.

Repeating as Super Bowl champions is even harder. We saw the Chiefs fall short when they tried in 2020, as they got to the big game but were obliterated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is a reason it hasn’t been done since the New England Patriots did it in the early 2000s.

This offseason Mahomes is extra motivated, and it should only fire up Chiefs fans. “Yeah I think to me it makes you even more motivated,” Mahomes continued.

“I mean, you can see that’s where you can get to, you can see that obviously, winning a Super Bowl, it is so hard to do, but once you’re able to do it, multiple times, you see that it’s obtainable to go out there and get more.

And so, for me, I understand it’s going to be a challenge every year. Every year is a new year, you keep getting better and better. But the motivation is to continue to try to do whatever you can to get back and win that game.” He wants to stack them up, and Chiefs fans should love that.

All this guy wants to do is win and that’s all the fans want them to do.
