Shortly after Kelce, 36, and his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate Lane Johnson removed their luchador masks to disclose their identities, one commentator revealed that the former NFL center was a member of the pop star’s family.
“Isn’t that what’s-her-name’s brother-in-law?” the announcer joked with Pat McAfee, who then broke into one of the singer’s classics. “Are you feeling 22?” McAfee, 36, sang in response. “Is this what you’re talking about? “Cardigan, that’s family.”
The Pat McAfee Show host then added about Kelce and his brother Travis: “The number one sports podcast on Earth too. And a legend, both of ‘em.” It’s not the first time that Swift has been misidentified by someone in the sports world. Tony Romo, the former Cowboys quarterback and current CBS Sports pundit, made the error twice last season.
During the Kansas City Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Romo referred to the “Karma” singer as Kelce’s wife. “And his wife loves it, I mean, girlfriend,” Romo quipped during the broadcast, after Travis recorded his 900th career reception. “You’ve been down that road with that before,” his partner in the booth, Jim Nantz, responded.
Romo, 43, made the same mistake during the Bills-Chiefs earlier that month. “As you see, Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, in the audience,” Romo said at the time, before quickly catching his mistake and correcting himself, adding, “Er, I’m sorry. girlfriend!”
“Not yet,” another analyst said, chuckling at Romo’s error. In recent weeks, the pair has enjoyed their time away from football and the Eras Tour. They looked to be in a good mood during a lunch date at Nobu in Malibu late last month.
Swift and Kelce were pictured leaving the restaurant hand-in-hand while sporting casual looks for their date, which came days after a sunny vacation to the Caribbean. “They vacationed in the Bahamas for several days,” a source told PEOPLE of the trip. “It was a much-needed break for both of them. They very much enjoyed it. They are so happy together.”
