Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Shares Joy on his first bye week as a dad

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a very unusual first half of the season. The former NFL MVP is amongst the league leaders in interceptions thrown and has struggled at times this season. The bye week was the perfect time for Mahomes to get away from the critics and spend some time with his family, specifically his daughter Sterling.

Speaking with the media on Wednesday, Mahomes revealed his thoughts on his first bye week as a father. “It was awesome,” Mahomes told reporters. “I think y’all probably saw the tweet when I said, ‘Being a dad is cool.’ When you’re in season, you get to see her, but she’s asleep a lot when you get home, you’re getting home late, and stuff like that.

When you’re there for that bye week, and you’re sitting there with her all day, and you’re just playing and seeing how much she’s grown. She’s crawling now, so she’s moving around everywhere; it’s really cool just to watch because she changes every single day. That was really important to me to be able to see her moving around. It was cool.”
