Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost their No. 1 wide receiver after they released Antonio Brown during the last season.
Preseason is about to begin in a month and the Buccaneers are left without their starting receiver.
But, an insider has revealed that the Buccaneers are looking to fill that void and might sign a deal with the reigning Super Bowl Champ.
Wondering who might that be? He is none other than the former Rams star WR Odell Beckham Jr.
According to Yahoo Sports senior writer Charles Robinson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers might sign a deal with OBJ once he has recovered from his injuries.
Robinson, during the Pod, To Win The Game podcast on 15th June, said, “If OBJ rides this out, let’s say he rides it out, he’s looking healthy, he still hasn’t signed, and it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m back in the mix in November.”
“I’m running,’ I think if Tampa Bay is where they expect to be in November, I absolutely think that Tampa Bay is the kind of team that could say, ‘Hey man, let’s just go do this. Let’s go win this.’”
Odell Beckham Jr. played his last season with two teams Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams. The Browns released OBJ in November, but he was quick to sign a deal with the Rams last season.
He played eight games for the Rams and was one of the reasons behind the Rams’ Super Bowl win. In those eight games, Beckham had 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns. The 3x pro bowler won his first Super Bowl with the Rams. But, he also suffered a torn ACL during the Super Bowl game against Cincinnati Bengals.
Odell Beckham Jr. shares a great bond with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady
OBJ is also close to Buccaneers QB Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen. Robinson further said, “And Tom Brady and Odell Beckham Jr. are close.”
“They have a really good relationship. Gisele and OBJ are close. They’re really good friends. And I think Tom is very influential when it comes to people that are in his circle, okay, and OBJ is in Tom’s circle.”
Beckham Jr. had revealed the relationship he shares with Tom Brady before a playoff matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He said Brady is like a big brother and mentor to him. Moreover, he used to love watching Brady when he was young.
OBJ also said that he hated Tom Brady as he always won against his favorite team Los Angeles Rams.
Now as Buccaneers are looking for a WR 1, and OBJ is a free agent, but he might not play until November as he recovers from his injury.
Also, he is close to Tom Brady, and Brady is known to keep his friends close. So, Brady and the Buccaneers might sign the star receiver and together go on to win the Super Bowl this season.
