Tyreek Hill was an essential part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ success over the years. The wide receiver had a great bond with Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce.
The trio destroyed the opposition together for the past four years. Everyone was shocked when it was announced that he was traded to the Miami Dolphins.
Another player who was important to the Chiefs and will not be a part of the team next year is Tyrann Mathieu. He wasn’t given a new deal, and as a result, he signed with the Saints. Mathieu was the leader of the Chiefs’ defense, and his departure was very heartbreaking for the Chiefs fans.
Tyrann recently appeared on the Rich Eisen Show. Rich Eisen asked him, “Were you surprised that Tyreek Hill got traded, that he’s no longer with the Chiefs? Tyrann did that shock you as much as the rest of the free football world or no?”
Tyrann responded and said, “ Naah, I mean you know I wasn’t you know as surprised as shocked you know um you know I’ve seen a lot in this business, and you know I think I’m one of those people that you know I kind of understand what’s going on you know uh and on the business side as well not just you know on the field and everything.”
He added, “I think just with the wide receiver market and you know how everything is kind of playing out um, you know I can see that happening you know a lot more you know in the future you know where here you have a guy that you know you think is irreplaceable but you know I think for the right now you know the amount of money you know you can move on from anybody.”
Can the Chiefs excel in the next season without Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu?
The Kansas City Chiefs have a tough task ahead of them next season. They will be without their very two important players in Tyreek and Tyrann.
However, they have made some moves to fill their void. The Chiefs signed Justin Reid, the former safety of the Texans. He’ll be taking the place of Tyrann Mathieu.
While on the WR Front, the Chiefs signed Juju prior to Tyreek leaving. In addition, they drafted some promising young players like Sky Moore and Justin Ross. These two can transcend into becoming stars while playing alongside Patrick Mahomes. However, only an eye test will tell how the Chiefs will fare out without their two veterans.
