Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already a big fan of one of KC’s 2023 draft picks.

The Chiefs selected SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice with the No. 55 overall selection in the draft.

Kansas City traded up with the Detroit Lions to land Rice.

Bleacher Report’s Adam Lefkoe texted Mahomes during Bleacher Report’s live draft show to ask the MVP quarterback how he felt about the Chiefs drafting Rice.

And Mahomes made it clear that he’s a big fan of the pick. In fact, Mahomes insinuated that he had some input in making the pick.

According to Lefkoe, Mahomes said he threw with Rice in Dallas during the pre-draft process before telling Lefkoe that he gives his input to the front office on all offensive guys.

That means Rice obviously received a big stamp of approval from Mahomes (which has to feel good for the rookie).

Rice has elite first-round talent, but he has to show he can be more consistent than he was at times at SMU.

If he can find that consistency, he could become a major weapon in Kansas City’s offense.

The fact that Mahomes is already comfortable with Rice gives this pick a great chance of hitting for the Chiefs.
