The Green Bay Packers have experienced one of the least exciting offseason in the NFL.
Though the team has seen some of its top contributors find new homes in free agency, the looming trade involving Aaron Rodgers has limited the Packers’ spending ability.
However, that could soon change after a recent photo surface of Rodgers and former Packers teammate, and current New York Jet, Allen Lazard.

The former Packers wideout posted a picture of him working out alongside Rodgers to his Instagram story. Though a deal between the Packers and Jets hasn’t officially been completed, this photo suggests the trade is practically a done deal.
It’s been a slow crawl for Green Bay leading up to the NFL draft, but once the team is able to move Rodgers’ hefty contract the real fun can begin.
Assuming no retained salary (possible) Aaron Rodgers’ new team will take on cap hits of:
23: $15.8M
24: $32.5M
25: $51.1M
26: $45.2MIf this is a “one-and-done” situation, the new team will pay out $59.15M for 2023, then take on $43.725M of dead cap thereafter.

The two-time NFL MVP carries a $31.6 million cap hit into 2023 followed by cap hits of $40.7 million, $59.3 million and $53.4 million from 2024-2026. Look for the Packers to make some noise in the second wave of free agency once the team sheds one of the most expensive contracts in NFL history.
