A huge reason for the recent success of the Cincinnati Bengals is quarterback Joe Burrow. He’s taken the Bengals to consecutive AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl berth since 2021.

As Burrow enters his fourth season, he is eligible for a massive contract extension. Well, before that happens, and it will soon, the Bengals picked up the fifth-year option on Burrow on Tuesday.

Burrow is now locked in with the Bengals through the next two seasons. Now, he’ll make $29.5 million in 2024.

The Bengals getting this done now was smart. Plus, it doesn’t mean they can’t strike a long-term deal at some point with Burrow before the 2024 campaign kicks off so there’s plenty of time to negotiate.

Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles recently got paid the big bucks after signing a five-year extension for $255 million with $110 million in guarantees.

That sets the floor for what Burrow will receive. So, it would behoove the Bengals to get something long-term done as soon as possible.

Burrow has made multiple deep playoff runs and defeated other top-notch quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen to do so in his first three seasons.

He currently holds the NFL record for completion percentage (68.2) and has displayed the type of confidence that any team would want in a quarterback.
