Since his death, Vanessa has worked to preserve and cement his legacy in both sports and philanthropy. In May 2021, Vanessa spoke at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for Kobe’s posthumous introduction.

“You once told me, if you’re going to bet on someone, bet on yourself,” Vanessa said in her speech. “I’m glad you bet on yourself, you overachiever. You did it. You’re in the Hall of Fame now.”

Vanessa’s Instagram page has become a touching and living tribute to her late husband and daughter. Her moving posts to Kobe celebrating their 20th anniversary in April 2021 were packed with personal and BTS moments.

The touching posts have also given Kobe Bryant fans a look into Vanessa and her children’s journey through grief. Her first post addressing the sudden deaths of her husband and daughter was three days after the helicopter crash.

“I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram. “But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way.”
