Kobe Bryant’s Widow Vanessa Releases Alleged Evidence To Try And Prove Her Mom Is Lying About Late NBA Star’s ‘Promise’

Vanessa Bryant is pulling out receipts to try and prove her mother is not telling the truth in court. According to court documents obtained by Radar, Vanessa’s attorney is making moves to show Kobe never promised to take care of her mom Sofia Laine for the rest of her life Last year, Sofia filed a civil lawsuit against Kobe’s estate and her daughter.

In court, Sofia said before his death Kobe had promised to pay her bills for her life. Sofia said Vanessa cut her out after Kobe’s tragic death. She claimed to have helped Vanessa and her husband raise their children for 18 years.

She accused her daughter of not providing her with the proper meal or rest breaks and never paid her overtime. “Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant’s promises did not see the light of day as he is now deceased, and Vanessa Bryant took each and every step she could to void and cancel all of Kobe Bryant’s promises made to [Laine]. Vanessa Bryant did not intend to honor any of the Bryants’ representations, agreements, and promises at any stage,” her suit read. Sofia said Vanessa even kicked her out of the home Kobe brought her after his death. Vanessa denies the accusations and called her mother’s lawsuit an extortion attempt.

She said, “I have supported her for nearly 20 years, and she was never my or Kobe’s personal assistant, nor was she a nanny. I have always been a stay-at-home mother and my husband and I were our daughters’ full-time caregivers.” She ended, “This lawsuit is frivolous, disgraceful, and unimaginably hurtful. My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy. “Recently, Vanessa submitted a bunch of evidence she believes proves her case. A part of the record is filings from Sofia’s divorce. Back in 2008 and 2009, Sofia was fighting her ex-husband over spousal support.

At the time, her ex-husband tried to get out of paying monthly support saying Kobe was taking care of the bills. Sofia told the court Kobe had no obligation to provide to her. Her ex also questioned her about tabloid reports that Vanessa bought her a $1 million home. She said the report was “absolutely false. ”Sofia said, “I would never permit Vanessa to do such a thing. I have not and do not (nor should I be required to) rely on Vanessa for my support.” Kobe’s widow believes the records show her mom is not being truthful in the present case. Vanessa is demanding all claims against her be dismissed immediately.
