Vanessa Bryant Defied the Odds and Went From “Some Chick” Kobe Bryant Sent Flowers for, to the “Backbone” of His Existence

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa Bryant have a great love story, as almost everyone knows. Vanessa has always supported Kobe throughout his life, ever since they were children.

 

 

The first woman he ever loved was his best friend, and he eventually married her. Kobe’s career began at a very young age, when he was still in high school, hooping along with his studies.

 

 

He has been a part of many interviews and TV shows showcasing his skills and his talent. Kobe joined the NBA after completing high school. There were very few interviews or television appearances by Vanessa.

In her eyes, it was only Kobe, not the spotlight and fame that comes with him. They made a beautiful couple. Vanessa was a senior at Marina High School when news of her relationship with popular Lakers player Kobe began making the media rounds.

 

 

The Los Angeles Times reported that a TV helicopter captured Vanessa’s image while hovering over the school. Due to Kobe’s huge fan base,

Vanessa missed her prom and started doing homeschooling “because of the notoriety,” Robert Laine, her grandfather, told the newspaper. At one point, the Times even interviewed her fellow classmates to find out more about the women who had captured Kobe’s heart.

 

 

As Graham Finochio described it, the rush between classmates occurred when they knew Kobe was sending “flowers and stuff” to some “chick.”

Kobe was an instant sensation at the age of 20 due to his remarkable basketball skills, while Vanessa was only 17 years old. It was love at first sight for the couple.

 

 

During the production of Tha Eastsidaz’s “G’d up” music video in 1999, they first met. From being “Some Chick” Kobe Bryant sent flowers to becoming the “Backbone” of his existence,

Vanessa has defied the odds. He described Vanessa as the strongest woman he knew in a press conference; she became an important part of his life.

In his words, “You’re my backbone. You’re a blessing. You’re a piece of my heart. You’re the air I breathe. And you’re the strongest person I know”.

People reported that Vanessa overcame her fear of flying to fly to Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, to attend Kobe’s jersey retirement ceremony.
