The mid-2010s produced some of the best offensive football that Steeler fans have seen.

Termed “The Killer B’s” the trio of Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, and Antonio Brown formed a weaponry that few teams could slow down.

But when Bell sat out a year, citing not enough money for a new contract, he hurt not only his own wallet but the hearts of Steeler nation. Now he aims to fix that.

Bell was one of if not the best back in the league during his five years with Pittsburgh. His last season with the Steelers in 2017 earned him All-Pro first-team honors, garnering support for his claim as the best in the business.

He would then miss all of 2018 in search of a larger pay day, coming up short in that regard, as he accepted a lesser offer with the New York Jets after it became apparent his services were no longer wanted in Pittsburgh.

Bell would then bounce around the league, as his patient running style and receiving ability were never utilized to the degree that Pittsburgh employed. A perfect fit for the Steeler’s zone-heavy attack, Bell is living proof that the grass is seldom greener.

But now Bell has admitted his wrongdoing, even using the word “petty” to describe his relationship with the team. He wants to make up for that, however, saying one last goodbye in black and gold:

“I never officially retired,” Bell said Friday on the Steel Here podcast. “The day when I do retire, it’s gonna be with Pittsburgh. Like, I’m trying to retire with Pittsburgh. But before I do that, I might be like, ‘Hey, let me get a couple of carries in the preseason so I can show you all something.’

“With the Steelers, I would do the little preseason, like alright, boom boom, but I would not do that anywhere else. Because I don’t even think about playing, it literally would only be in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is where I’ll retire, you know what I’m saying, that’s just it. Because I already been other places. It’s not Pittsburgh.”

You don’t say Le’Veon?

In all seriousness, Bell knows he made a mistake and in my opinion, a reunion to end his career on good terms would be best for all parties. One last hoorah to thank the organization and fans seems harmless, given he knows he would be cut and allow someone else to make the final roster. Forgiveness goes a long way, and Bell deserves a chance to earn his.
