Packers rising star makes strong statement about Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is a mystery to the football world. Hidden in Aaron Rodgers’ shadow during his first two seasons in the NFL, the time has come for the 2020 first rounder to take the reins of the franchise.

Although Love has started just one game in his career, he was fortunate enough to sit and watch one of the game’s greatest quarterbacks navigate the trials and tribulations at the position.

One of Rodgers’ favorite targets in the 2022 season was Christian Watson. The speedster quickly emerged as one of the most dangerous downfield weapons in the NFL. He will likely serve as Love’s number one option in the upcoming season.

Watson recently spoke to Pro Football Focus discussing just how much further along Love is in his development than is being portrayed by some members in the national media.

People need to understand that [Love] was learning and practicing and in the meeting rooms with a Hall of Fame quarterback each and every day,” Watson said. “He’s his own quarterback, but I’m sure he’s taken so many things from Aaron [Rodgers]. We’ve seen a lot of flashes of what he can do. It’s only going to be put more on display. Everything we’ve seen so far is only going to be multiplied. We’re ready to go out there and ball. We have full confidence in him.”

There will undoubtedly be growing pains in Love’s first season as the full-time starter. But for Watson, who knows Love as well as anybody, to vouch for his new quarterback in a major way has to take a little bit of pressure off of his signal caller.
