Vanessa Bryant buys Kobe’s sister Sharia a Tesla

Vanessa Bryant, wife of late NBA champ Kobe Bryant, surprised his sister Sharia with a new Tesla electric car this week. “Surprise @shariawash! We love you!!!😘❤️Tesla Tunnel, here she comes!! Vegas to Cali ☀️🌴 #BoringTunnel,” Bryant, 39, wrote on Instagram beside a photo of the pair in front of the new car.

The post also included a video of Sharia getting teary-eyed over the gesture. The “Tesla Tunnel” refers to a proposed underground transportation system meant to connect Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is behind the project, which is currently limited to two .7-mile tunnels beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Vanessa also shared video of the dealer going over the features of the vehicle while the women smiled for the camera. “Is that my bestie in a Tessie? Do you like your car?” Vanessa asks in the clip. “OMG! So this happened today,” Sharia, 45, responded in an Instagram post of her own. “Thank you so much V! 🥰 I’m still speechless! ❤️ This is absolutely amazing ❤️Love you!!”

Sharia and Kobe’s other sister, Shaya Bryant-Tabb, have supported Vanessa through the loss of the basketball great, who died alongside the couple’s daughter Gianna — and seven others — in a helicopter crash in southern California in January 2020. Wishing Vanessa a happy birthday last month, Sharia wrote, “You continue to amaze me with your heart and your strength. Proud to call you my sister and my friend. Happy birthday Queen! Love you! 👑🎂🎁🎉🥂.”
