paris Fashion Week, the womenswear edition, was back in full swing after nearly two years of mostly digital runway shows and presentations.
The crowds indeed returned, and with them, the spectacle of street style. Editors, retailers, influencers, celebrities, and wannabes seemingly had no qualms about peacocking in front of photographers.
My Instagram feed was rampant with ’em colorful birds. But the guy that really caught my attention, the one that flaunted his feathers best was Lewis Hamilton.
fashion, the kind of fella who takes risks. For him, clothes are seemingly a way to communicate creativity and celebrate forward-thinking design.
He displayed this sentiment first at Valentino show, seated next to Zendaya in a nylon topcoat, silk pajama shirt, silk pajama pants, and combat boots all by Valentino.
Later that day, he changed into a cream silk lavallière-neck blouse, also by Valentino. The man is sartorially brave, no question. What really showed his fearlessness, though, came a day later, outside the Hôtel de Crillon,
where Hamilton stepped out in a black belted jumpsuit by Bottega Veneta. He paired it with Chelsea boots by the Italian label, sunglasses by Retrosuperfuture, and a pearl necklace with all the colors of rainbow by Polite Worldwide.
A dark onesie, also called a flight suit or boiler suit, isn’t standard, let alone with a strand of pearls. Michael Myers (the babysitter killer, not the comedian) is who normally comes to mind when I think about the style.
Second are mechanics. But I didn’t get either vibe from Hamilton’s ensemble. There was nothing menacing or utilitarian about it—probably because the fit was baggy and belted.
Hamilton, instead, imbued swagger and playfulness. The colorful necklace also helped. He was clearly having fun at fashion week, and if ever given the same opportunity, you should do the same. Better yet, have fun when you feel it’s appropriate.
Try a jumpsuit (just make sure it’s roomy). Try pearls. Try them together. Ruffle some feathers, because that’s what makes life interesting. If you’re inspired, we found Hamilton’s head-to-toe look. But not many are Formula One racers, so we have the look for less, too.
