Lewis Hamilton Drives His One-Off Pagani Zonda After Promising To Stop Driving Exotics

As you would expect of a seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton owns a salivating collection of exotic cars, from a Ferrari LaFerrari to a McLaren P1. One of his most famous cars is the Pagani Zonda 760 LH, a one-off purple Zonda built exclusively for the F1 racer.

When he isn’t racing for Mercedes, Hamilton is often seen cruising in his one-of-a-kind Zonda. Most of us can only dream of owning these exotic machines, yet last year Hamilton declared he will no longer drive them to help save the planet.

“I don’t drive any of the cars that I own anymore,” Hamilton told Reuters last year, adding that he now only drives his electric Mercedes EQC SUV and Smart EQ ForTwo Smart. He also only requests to be collected from airports in electric vehicles. Well, that promise didn’t last very long. As Formula 1 takes a break over the summer, Hamilton was spotted driving on the streets of his home city of Monaco. As you can see in the video, the car he is driving is the exact opposite of environmentally friendly as Hamilton couldn’t resist the lure of his one-of-a-kind Zonda.

Unsurprisingly, it attracted a lot of attention. According to the video description, Hamilton took his Pagani Zonda 760 LH for a drive to the harbor to party with Samuel L. Jackson on a yacht. In case you were wondering if he had modified it to create the world’s first electric Pagani Zonda, we get to hear its naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 start-up and rev before Hamilton hits the streets. Around two minutes into the video, the Zonda enters a tunnel, and it sounds heavenly.

With a soundtrack as emotive as that, we can’t blame him for choosing the Zonda over a silent electric car. Based on the Zonda 760 RS, Hamilton’s one-off Zonda is finished in purple with copious amounts of exposed carbon. Its naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 you can hear generates 760 horsepower. Looks like Hamilton is going to have some explaining to do for environmentalists.
