Does Taylor Swift have something to tell us about her hair? On May 27, the musician popped in via video to accept the iHeart Radio Pop Album of the Year for her album Folklore and we couldn’t help but notice that her hair looks a bit darker than normal. Has Taylor gone brunette now?
Taylor has been a blonde as long as she’s been in the public eye. In her early years, she rocked long, bright blonde curls, then later transitioned to a deep wheat blonde hue during her Red and 1989 era. The Reputation era saw her briefly flirt with platinum blonde, and lately, Taylor has been embracing her natural dark blonde color. But, could she be experimenting with brunette tones, or is this simply a trick of the light?
To accept her award, Taylor wore her hair in romantic, undone crown braids with bangs. She paired her hairstyle with a V-neck floral patterned dress from Hemant & Nandita. Beauty-wise, Tay went for the “forest maiden” vibe she’s been feeling these days, with rosy pink cheeks, glowing skin, bright eyes, and pink lipstick. If you quickly glance at Taylor, you may think that she’s gone brunette, as her bangs, in particular, do look darker than usual.
While we’re inclined to believe that Taylor hasn’t darkened her hair and we’re just seeing her natural tones in a different light, there’s no denying that her color has changed over the years — something that can happen to many natural blondes as they age. Taylor could be growing out her highlights and trying something new; if you look closely at her crown braids, you’ll see a hint of her previous golden blonde. (But, Taylor, if you are reading, we need to know for sure.)
That said, Tay has sort of experimented with the brunette life before. She wore a dark wig for her “You Belong with Me” video to portray the cheerleader in question and also donned one in the video for “Wildest Dreams.” Plus, whether or not she’s actually dipping her toe into the brunette world or just growing out her color, Taylor’s hair is always goals.
