Natalia Bryant makes Met Gala debut in avant-garde balloon dress

Natalia Bryant certainly took a risk at her first-ever Met Gala. The 18-year-old daughter of the late Kobe Bryant hit the red carpet on Monday night, dressed in a whimsical Conner Ives creation covered in multicolored sequins that will be showcased as part of the museum’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” exhibit.

Bryant, a burgeoning model, accessorized her egg-shaped, ’60s-inspired dress with lavender platform heels and a bouffant. “I definitely wanted to do something really fun and young. I’m so glad Anna Wintour allowed me to wear this exhibit dress. This just feels like a dream,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

“Having my whole family support me is just so nice tonight… it means everything,” she added, sharing that she couldn’t wait to see mom Vanessa Bryant’s BFF Ciara — who paid homage to husband Russell Wilson with her neon green football jersey dress and the Seattle Seahawks quarterback’s Super Bowl ring. “Bringing back preschool drop off feelings as I send my first born off to her first Met Gala. The VOGUE team and Anna Wintour appointed Natalia this incredible dress designed by Conner Ives which will also be featured in the American Lexicon EXHIBIT,” proud mom Vanessa wrote on Instagram.

While Bryant started her freshman year at the University of Southern California last month, she has also been making major strides in her modeling career. She and Vanessa starred in Bulgari’s Mother’s Day campaign earlier this year, and the teen just covered the September issue of Teen Vogue.
