Dwayne Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian have become ‘even better listeners and communicators’ since lockdown. The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star, 47, has been married to Lauren since 2019 and since they have been isolating together in the house amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: ‘We realized kinda quickly how critical it was for us to be ultra considerate, caring and empathetic of one another. Be even better listeners. ‘Even better communicators. Recognize that during these times, we’re not operating at full brain and emotional intelligence capacity as we usually are. You’re gonna get snippy, short tempered and you guys may erupt at each other.’
And Dwayne joked he has a great way to stop any arguments. Speaking in a fan Q&A, he added: ‘When that happens, grab your partner by the shoulders, like I grabbed Lauren. ‘Look them directly in the eyes and say with full [100 percent] conviction, “Baby, you’re not wrong … you’re just not used to being right” and then count the seconds it takes for you both to belly laugh your asses off.’
Meanwhile, the star previously revealed refuses to post his workout sessions on social media during the COVID-19 lockdown because he doesn’t want to upset anyone as his gym is much better than what people have at home. ‘He said: ‘I don’t post my workouts, because I’m sensitive to millions of you around the world who aren’t able to train in your local gyms and you’re stuck at home. I’d feel like an a**hole and it ain’t my style.
Just know I’m working extremely hard and I want all of you to get back to working out ASAP too.’ During a recent Q&A, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson revealed that he lost out on the role of the title character in Jack Reacher to none other than Tom Cruise. In a nearly seven-minute video shared to his Instagram on Saturday, Johnson explained that the role in the 2012 action flick was one that he ‘really wanted,’
but the loss led to ‘another door’ opening. ‘Business is business and I’m happy [Cruise] got it,’ insisted the 47-year-old actor to his 178million followers. The Rock admitted that he wanted to play Reacher because, unlike his prior roles, the iconic fiction heroine was not ‘made’ for him.
‘All of the roles for me – because I am a lucky son of a b*tch – have been made and designed specifically for me, except Jack Reacher.’ Johnson, who was vying for the part over ten years ago, recognized that he was ‘in a much different place in [his] career’ at that time and that Tom was, obviously, the biggest movie star in the world and [he] was not.’
‘I wanted that role so badly because I was a big fan of that character and I thought I could do him justice.’ Jack Reacher, the protagonist in a series of novels by the same name and written by Lee Child, is described as being 6feet4inches and between 275 and 280 pounds – both parameters that Johnson fit.
