The Tampa Bay Buccaneers currently have just two quarterback options on their depth chart: Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask.

With that in mind, the team is seriously looking into quarterback options in this year’s 2023 NFL draft class. On Thursday, general manager Jason Licht strongly hinted at at least one quarterback selection from this year’s crop of talent.

“It’s the toughest position to find. It’s the most important position on the team,” Licht said during a press conference. “You see teams that in consecutive years take them in the top 10. We have an unknown in Kyle.

We have Baker, who has had some great years and now we’re hoping he shows up this year in that competition and we get the best out of both of them.

“I would not be afraid to take a quarterback — another quarterback — because you might as well have another shot at it. Maybe not this year, but maybe in the future.” The Buccaneers currently hold the No. 19 overall pick in this year’s draft. If they want to land one of the top QB options in this year’s class, they would likely need to trade up.

The Bucs could also select a less sought-after signal caller with their No. 50 pick in the second round.
